King Streetcar Stuck In Endless Detour Loop For 72 Hours

By Nikola Kramaric

Toronto - For the last 72 hours, streetcars on King have been stuck in an unfortunate detour loop. Multiple emergency construction projects kicked off simultaneously and without warning which have stranded hundreds of passengers on the ever-looping streetcars.

New safety protocols prohibit drivers from opening the doors to let passengers out except at designated stops which have all been blocked. This has led city officials to declare a state of emergency. Transit crews have been dispatched to try and create temporary safe streetcar stops but they estimate it might take up to 6 weeks to complete the work.
