Toronto Man Already Has Crippling Anxiety Over What This Year’s ‘Spotify Wrapped’ Will Say About Him

Liberty Village - Steven Matthews says he’s already concerned about how his Spotify wrapped, a playlist of a user’s most listened to songs of the year released by the music streaming service in December, will reflect on him as a person.
“It’s stressful. I spend a lot of time worrying about whether I’m listening to certain songs too often. I don’t want to seem like a poser or a bro, but I also don’t want to come off as someone who only listens to obscure hipster music,” says the 28 year old, “ Am I listening to too much The Weeknd? Not enough? Is listening to showtunes from Hamilton still cool? I need to make sure my top five artists and songs are perfect when I post it to Instagram.”
Jrdyn Soundz is a Spotify wrapped strategist who says she helps thousands of people just like Steven. “The best time to start worrying about it is January 1st, if you need help that’s where we come in.” Soundz works with clients to curate their year end top five songs so they can come off as in touch with cool underground artists but also still relatable.
“Your friends are judging your taste in music, and they definitely think you’re a loser based on what you listen to,” she says, “We were able to overhaul everything about Steven to make him seem more impressive. We have him listening to the same 5 songs on repeat for the rest of the year so his friends know he listens to whatever tastemakers tell him to.”
Steven says after working with Jrdyn Soundz, his anxiety has lowered to a more normal level. “The constant worry about what people think of me combined with posting my Spotify Wrapped has taken the fun out of the music I listen to, but I’m really looking forward to the fire emojis my friends will send me at the end of the year!”
