Feds Threaten Protestors With 7 Day Facebook Suspension
Ottawa - After invoking the Emergency Measures Act yesterday to deal with ongoing blockades in Ottawa and at border crossings, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government will do whatever it takes to stop these protests, up to and including a temporary ban from social media.
Since the announcement of the convoy to Ottawa, supporters have used the antiquated social media platform Facebook to share their message by fighting in comment sections of pictures of their grandchildren, post vague threats to national leaders, and share pictures of Justin Trudeau’s face photoshopped over Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker character.
Now with the Emergency Measures act, the federal government says they aren’t afraid to temporarily put these individuals in Facebook jail.
“We know what’s important to these radical individuals, and we aren’t afraid to hit them where it really hurts,” Defense Minister Anita Anand stated, “We will freeze their funds, revoke licenses, or use our most extreme measure and take away their ability to share non-sensical memes with their 37 friends.”
Trudeau says further non-compliance from protestors could result in a very stern DM from a member of his government.
