Eglinton LRT Demonstration Interrupted By Unscheduled Track Maintenance

Toronto - Things became a little derailed during today’s Eglinton LRT demonstration after unplanned track maintenance resulted in members of the media needing to finish the remainder if the presentation via shuttle buses.
Once reporters departed the LRT, 15 TTC workers in red vests directed them to the nearest shuttle bus ten feet from where the got off. Members of the media then all piled into the one shuttle bus and a company rep pointed to where all the new stations are and described what they would look like if the repairs weren’t currently taking place.
“It was disappointing I didn’t get to actually ride the LRT, but this seems to be a more realistic route that Line 5 riders can expect to take,” a reporter from CBC stated.
The track maintenance was slated to take place on Thursday, however miscommunication and general leadership failure from the TTC resulted in the maintenance happening in the middle of Metrolinx’s presentation for the new line.
The Eglinton LRT line, which began construction in 1968, is slated to be finished sometime in 2022. The fifth major rail track will finally unite the east and west ends of one of North America’s largest cities.
