Ford Government Partners With Canada’s Wonderland To Sell Hospital “Fast Pass”
Toronto - In an effort to combat lengthy wait times in Ontario hospitals the Ford government has partnered with Cedar Fair, parent company of the popular Canada’s Wonderland amusement park, to begin selling Fast Pass wristbands that will allow hospital patients to jump to the front of the line.
“I was at Wonderland this weekend and while I was cutting in front of all the poor people to ride Behemoth for the fifth time I thought, ‘Hey, now this might be the exact solution our hospital system needs’,” stated the premier.
For a fee of $750, hospital patients will receive a special “Fast Pass” wristband that will allow them to bypass the wait time other patients are subject to and receive their medical treatment quicker. For an additional $2000, patients can purchase a “Fast Pass Plus” wristband that will allow them to see doctors and specialists who are considered to be the top of their field.
Previously, wait times were determined by both the severity of illness and staffing levels. With the new Fast Pass program, residents will be able to receive the medical attention they need quicker for just a few extra dollars. Those who don’t purchase the wrist band can still receive life saving healthcare, but will just need to wait.
Ford says the fees collected from the hospital Fast Pass program will help to purchase additional ICU beds and to subsidize the cost of dollar beers.
