OLG Takes Back Lotto Max Prize After Winner Unable To Answer Skill Testing Question

Guelph - The OLG has demanded a recent Lotto Max winner pay back his $1 million prize, after the winner’s answer to the skill testing question was off by 42.

The winner, 26 year old Andrew Morgan, was shocked to learn answering a skill testing question was actually required, assuming it was something people just said on TV like “don’t try this at home” or “don’t mix this medication with alcohol.”

By law, all lottery winners in Canada must answer a challenging mathematical question to ensure idiots don’t become too rich. Unfortunately for Morgan, he hasn’t done a math equation in nearly a decade so just guessed “69”. Now, he’s paying a big price for his incompetence.

“It’s pretty upsetting to learn I have to give the money back, especially since I already spent half of it paying off my student loans,” says Morgan, “Maybe if I had have listened to my dad and studied engineering instead of theatre, I would have known what all those brackets and little number above the big numbers meant.”

Despite Morgan’s sad story, the OLG say they won’t be backing down.

“The rules are the rules. If you don’t know BEDMAS, you don’t deserve to win the lottery. Simple as that,” a spokesperson for the OLG tells us.

Andrew will have until the end of the month to pay back his winnings in full or face interest rates of 20%.
