The Next Norm Macdonald? This Toronto Comedian Just Performed For 7 People In A Leslieville Basement
The Beaches - Dreams have finally come true for this aspiring Toronto-based comic after performing at one of the cities most exclusive venues; some guys living room!
“I never thought I would ever headline a show, let alone one of the most exclusive shows in the east-end,” 23 year old Kyle Young tells us, “When I moved to the big city from Goodrich my friends and family said I would never make it as a comic. Well who’s laughing now! I mean, other than this amazing crowd!”
Kyle tells us he was extremely nervous to perform for the sold out crowd, which included the other three performers and the promoters roommates.
“To think, just a few months ago I was doing stand up in the park, performing for just my girlfriend and a passed out drunk guy. The skies the limit from here! Next stop, barking for JFL!”
The show’s organizer, 53 year old veteran comedian Chuck Reid best known for opening for Gerry Dee once in 2004, tells us how exciting it is to finally be doing shows for a packed crowd.
“The stand up scene took a real hit during the pandemic,” Chuck explains, “With many venues closing their doors permanently, and our friends now having a legitimate excuse for not coming to our shows, it’s been really tough for Toronto’s comedians. But performing for this crowd really feels like we’re getting back to normal.”
“Chuckles In The ‘Ville” is happening every Thursday at 9PM probably. Just send Chuck a message on Facebook if you want more details.
