NHL Team Unveils Pride Jerseys They Have No Intention Of Ever Actually Wearing

Montreal - The Montreal Canadians held a press conference earlier this week to unveil warm up jerseys, followed by an announcement that they have no intentions to actually wear them on Pride night. The organization made the announcement for the fans, so they don't even get their hopes up that the team may actually follow through in wearing the jerseys.

“What we’ve learned from teams like the Minnesota Wild and St Louis Blues is that we don’t want our fans thinking we might wear the jersey. Take a good look at it now because you won’t be seeing it on the ice.” Said a spokesperson for the team.

The pride themed jersey, which was essentially a normal Montreal Canadiens jersey with a little rainbow patch on the shoulder, was then shown to the public for 7 seconds before being taken off stage.

“Pretty sweet looking jersey, right?” said the spokesperson, “And you’ll never see it again. Nope, that jersey is going straight into the incinerator. We paid a local artist, who’s name I forgot, a lot of money to design it. We really hope our friends in the LGBT community got to see it so they know how progressive and inclusive we are. Did anyone get a picture of it?”

One player commended the move to not wear the jerseys during warmups saying: “How am I supposed to know what team I play for if I’m not wearing my normal jersey? Hockey is so confusing, adding more colours to jerseys would just make it more confusing.”

The spokesperson said that they were not canceling everything they had planned for Pride Night. “We still plan on showing our support for the community by having one ‘Hockey is for everyone’ poster hanging in the highest seating section of the arena.”
