This Toronto Woman Saved $200 On Groceries A Week By Not Buying Groceries

Lifestyle - After struggling with the rising cost of food in the city, 26 year old Rebecca Short devised the perfect plan to cut her grocery budget; she just stopped eating!

“I realized one day while shopping at my local City Market that I was spending almost $30 for two pieces of chicken. And I thought, ‘Do I really need this chicken? Do I even need anything in here?’,” Rebecca tells us, “If I really need to eat, I just steal a frozen lasagnas from my parent’s house and stretch that out for the whole week.”

And if you think she’s spending thousands of dollars a month getting avocado toast delivered, think again! Rebecca shares more of her money saving food tips.

“My ex-boyfriend once used his Uber East account from my phone while we were dating and never logged out. He’s been secretly paying for my meals since 2019,” explains Rebecca, “But I only order small things once or twice a week. Not because I still love him he’s just less likely to notice the smaller purchases.”

Rebecca says that besides saving money with her new budget-friendly lifestyle, she’s also never been more well-rested, telling us that since she stopped eating she often finds herself uncontrollably passing out for hours on end in the middle of the day. Win win!
