Everyone Forgot It Was Toronto’s Birthday On Sunday And Now We Feel Bad

By Gabriel Venneri

City - Toronto turned 188 years old on Sunday and all of its residents forgot to wish their city a happy birthday.

When asked if they remembered to say happy birthday most people responded, “Wait, isn’t Toronto’s birthday is July 1st?” or “Oh shit, I thought it was next Sunday!”

One resident, Julie Wexler, remembered, “I was the only one at the birthday party, it was pretty awkward. I pretended that I wasn’t feeling well so I could leave early.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to buy a scented candle as a belated birthday gift because we feel guilty for forgetting. There is also a birthday card for everyone to sign, and we can just say the candle is from all of us.
