Farmboy Mascot Called Into Parliament To Explain How He’s Keeping Shrimp Prices So Low

Ottawa - The mascot of Ontario-based grocery chain Farmboy has been brought before Parliament to explain how he’s been able to keep seafood prices so low amid surging inflation.

BC NDP MP Alistair McGregor, who had previously brought in grocery CEOs last month to discuss what they’re doing to keep prices low, is now question Mr Boy on how he can possibly advertise 340g of shrimp for just $6.99 this week while competitors are selling it for as much as double.

“Canadians deserve to know how some grocery stores can sell products at such affordable prices while also being one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies to work for, while similar stores are selling a dozen eggs for $11.99,” stated McGregor.

Mr Boy says he and his company have always maintained that it’s all about the food, making sure to always source the best food from the best sellers, and that if you really look into it the Canadian Food Inspection Agency had a very loose interpretation on what legally constitutes “shrimp”.

Ottawa is expected to call on Jimmy the stuffed monkey mascot who hang above the banana section to explain why the price of the fruit has been $0.59 since the 90’s.
