Apple Announces New AirPod ‘Retros‘
Tech - Tired of constantly misplacing your AirPods? Or worse, walking too far away from your iPhone that your music cuts out from your wireless earbuds? Well Apple has just solved that problem with their new wired earbuds.
The tech giant announced today their plans to release new AirPod Retros in the coming weeks. The earbuds can be plugged directly into your iPhone or other Apple product via the lightening port, and users will be able to listen to audio through Apple’s breakthrough “WiredPlus” technology.
The “Hey Siri” feature that was found on the old AirPods has been replaced by a new physical button attached to the wire that users can double click to activate Siri. The buttons will also allow users to adjust the volume of their audio without having to embarrassingly yell “Hey Siri. Hey Siri. HEY SIRI. VOLUME UP.” while riding a public bus.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said the idea for the wired headphones and physical toggle feature came to him after some AirPod users complained that there was no way to adjust the volume with AirPods other than through the phone. And the wireless technology of AirPods meant many users oftentimes couldn’t locate their phone, as it quite literally could be anywhere within 15ft of them.
Retailing at $289 CAD, the AirPod Retros are set to hit shelves at the end of the month. Tech experts project the new gadget will be a hit amongst Apple fans, and will likely be the hottest gift this holiday season.
