Abandoned Convenience Store Wonders Which Cannabis Shop It Will Become Next Month
By Scott Slute
Little Portugal - This Dundas West storefront previously housed a multi-generational, family-owned convenience store since the 1980’s. But due to rising commercial rent prices and tech bros looking to diversify their Ethereum profits, this abandoned convenience store at Dundas and Landsdown now has big aspirations of becoming the 7th weed shop on the block.
“Will I become a Spirit Leaf? Perhaps a Tokyo Smoke? I don’t wanna get ahead of myself, but maybe with a little renovation I could even become a Suprette! But oh God, just burn me down if you see a sign that says ‘Value Buds Coming Soon’ posted in my window,” the storefront tells us.
Locals are excited to welcome yet another cannabis store into the neighbourhood. Although the closing of the convenience store means they now have to take a 15 minute streetcar ride to get something as simple as an onion, they say having so many marijuana shopping options is totally worth it.
“It’ll be great to have another weed shop on the street,” says neighbourhood resident Cooper Haas, “It currently takes me over two minutes to go from my front door to the nearest pot shop. Once this one opens, I can shave that down to almost 1 minute and 46 seconds!”
Whatever kind of shop it ends up being, be sure to head down before next month when it eventually closes and converts into a natural wine bottle shop.
