“If I Had $1000000” Lyrics Adjusted For Inflation

Culture - The Barenaked Ladies announced they plan to re-record their 19992 smash hit “If I Had $1000000” with updated lyrics that better reflect inflation and the global economy.

The band says that after accounting for an 85% inflation rate over the last 31 years, the song will now be titled “If I Had $1850000”, and lyrics will highlight more realistic purchases such as replacing lyrics about taking limousines with lyrics about taking a regular Uber instead of Uber Pool.

BNL lead singer Ed Robertson says the decision was made after realizing the lyrics could be confusing for new fans who won’t understand why someone in 1992 would brag about only having one million dollars. The song will now include lines such as, “If I had 1.85 million dollars, I could put a down payment on a detached 3 bedroom home.”

The newly updated song will replace all current use rations of the recording. The band says they will keep the line about still eating Kraft Dinner, but have omitted the parts about eating “more” and being able to afford “fancy ketchup” based on current food prices.
