Trudeau Blows Off Meeting With French President To Go Surfing

Ibiza - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is once again the centre of scandal after missing a meeting with French president Emmanuel Macron, opting instead to go surfing with his family in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean.

After meetings in the UK to discuss the on-going crisis in Ukraine, Trudeau was scheduled to meet with the French president as part of his European tour. The PM, however, opted to make a quick pitstop to the Spanish island of Ibiza before heading to his scheduled meetings. Unfortunately for President Macron, the waves were too good that day and Trudeau ended up spending more time in the water than expected.

“I’ve worked almost 8 whole days this year,” a water-logged Trudeau tells us from the white sand beaches, “I needed a little time to relax and recharge before heading to continental Europe and threatening to give all of Putin’s money to Ottawa businesses.”

Trudeau insists that he fully intended to make the meeting with Macron, but simply lost track of time after hearing that a huge wave was about to show up any minute.

President Macron, known famously for inventing the popular French cookie, said he wasn’t disappointed Trudeau missed his meeting, but was more upset he didn’t get the invite to the fun beach day.

“I also love to surf. I would have happily discussed increased sanctions on the Spanish sand over a couple Estrellas and some jamón,” Macron told the CBC.

Though not the first time Trudeau has been caught blowing off work to hang ten, he assured Macron he barely ever does this. “I literally haven’t hit the waves since I went to Tofino during the first Truth and Reconciliation Day,” assured Trudeau, “And that was like 6 months ago so cut me some slack.”
