TTC Plans To Shut Down 89 Bus Stops This Weekend As It Might Be Too Sunny

Toronto - The TTC says it has preemptively decided to halt service this weekend to nearly one hundred bus stops for what they’re describing as “potentially dangerously sunny” weather conditions.

The transit authority has stated that certain bus stops along east-west roadways could experience patches of bright sunshine this weekend that might be a little to bright for drivers impacting their ability to see exactly where the stop is. They state that for the safety of both riders and drivers, these stops will not be serviced.

Explained a spokesperson for the TTC, “Picture what happens when you accidentally turn on your phone’s flashlight and point it at a mirror and you go ‘Oh man that’s bright I better turn that off and not look at that mirror’. While not nearly as bright, the sunlight could potentially hit spots on our route that might bother our driver’s eyes. And unlike your phone’s flashlight, we can’t just turn off the suns.”

The TTC says to find out which bus stops will be effected by this shutdown, simply walk to your nearest stop and look for a piece of paper that says “Not In Service”
