Canadian Hero? This Man Paid More In Taxes Than The Country’s 10 Richest Billionaires Combined!

Toronto - Jeremy Siu is being lauded as a hero when it was revealed that he paid more in taxes than the country’s 10 richest people combined for the 5th consecutive year. The 27 year old, who just recently filed his tax return, has remained humble while deflecting much of the praise he’s received from the Canadian Revenue Agency.

“Gosh I’m flattered, honestly, but I’m no hero. There are thousands of people like me out there who pay more in taxes than billionaires, they deserve just as much credit as I do,” said Siu.

He claims his secret to paying so much in taxes is holding a minimum wage job that was affected by the pandemic. “I was working as much as I could to just barely afford to live in Toronto and then the shutdown happened. Because of a loophole I had to go on employment insurance instead of CERB which the government told me I had to pay back.”

Siu admits he finds it fulfilling to know his tax dollars are making a difference. “I may never have enough saved up to live in even modest comfort but it’s nice to know my tax dollars are going to the people who need it most, like the oil industry or board members at Bell.”

Word of Siu’s tax generosity has spread quickly, earning him admiration from billionaires across the country. “Jeremy is the reason our roads are paved. I’ll think about him every time I’m driving my Maybach. Well, I won’t be driving, my chauffeur will be. I’ll get him to think about Jeremy for me,” said Don Eames, billionaire owner of Eames Capital, parent company of The Toronto Harold, “It’s a shame, I’d love to pay more in taxes but all these pesky shell companies and offshore bank accounts make it impossible.”

The CRA has decided to reward Siu with an audit, his second in 3 years, to see if they can further bolster his status as a true Canadian hero.
