Local Man Stops Using Russian Dressing In His Reuben Sandwiches In Support Of Ukrainian People

By Andrew Scott

Leslieville - Torontonian and sandwich enthusiast Russell Pearson publicly acknowledged on his foodie Facebook site, “Grilled to See You,” that he had recently switched from Russian dressing to Thousand Island in an effort to “do his part” in the war on Ukraine.

“I had already contributed significantly to the war effort by liking a number of Facebook posts about Zelensky and changing my background to the Ukrainian yellow and blue flag,” acknowledges Pearson, “But rexhaving seen the ongoing atrocities, I felt my efforts were simply not enough and decided to make the ultimate sacrifice of changing sandwich condiments.”

Wiping away corned-beef grease from the bearded corners of his mouth, Pearson, age 42, admits that while he is “not a hero,” he remains hopeful that his actions here will inspire others to answer the call and help out with the current humanitarian crisis.
