Federal Employees Now Required To Wear Masks While Working From Home
Ottawa - Following the announcement all federal workers must be fully vaccinated regardless of their work from home status, the Canadian government has now announced all employees must wear a mask for the entirety of their shift no matter where they are working from.
The new rule will apply to not only those working from in-person office spaces, but park rangers and groundskeepers who work mostly alone and outside, along with anyone working from home.
“We need to keep our employees and our citizens safe,” a spokesperson for the federal government stated, “We understand some employees may work alone from their own homes, but at any moment they could come face-to-face with a delivery person, their child returning from school, or a burglar, all of whom could potentially expose them to COVID-19.”
The spokesperson said their government wasn’t willing to take even the slightest risk when it came to this virus, and that would also include those who don’t come in contact with anyone.
Those who are working from home will be required to have a mask on at their home office during the work day, but will be able to remove it after 5PM when their shift is finished. Employees will be permitted to check their emails on their days off without a mask, for now.
The new policy will come into effect in two weeks time, giving employees enough time to order masks from Amazon.
