Toronto Residents Unsure Where To Get Overpriced Souvlaki Given Cancellation of Taste Of The Danforth

Danforth - News of the cancellation of 2022’s Taste of The Danforth Festival, which annually features street vendors selling overpriced and mediocre versions of the very same menu that they have on offer every other day of the year, was met with anger and confusion by Toronto residents and foodies alike, Wednesday.

“While I realize that there are eighty-five places to get a Gyros or a Chicken Souvlaki on a pita between my North Riverdale semi and Pape and Danforth,” acknowledges graphic designer Adrian Yates, who has since launched the online petition, “Absentee Tzatziki,” in order to protest the Danforth BIA’s decision, “My summer will not be complete without the sounds of caterwauling bouzoukis played to crowds of COVID super spreader proportions while awkwardly carrying around a finished shish kebab skewer and attempting not to gouge anyone’s eye.”

No word yet if a similar fate will befall College Street’s “Taste of Italy,” but Café Diplomatico has noted a recent increase in their takeout pasta and cannoli stock as West End residents prepare for a potential stoppage.
