Tokyo - Fans we’re stunned when the men’s 50km walking race was won by a surprising participant; a lady who was trying to walk home alone!
28 year old Jessica Borg tells us she was just trying to safely get back to her hotel room after a night out with friends, which just so happened to be the exact race route.
“I didn’t realize I was interrupting a race, I just wanted to get back home,” Borg tells us during the medal ceremony, “I mean I always walk fast when I’m on my own. I guess I was moving a little faster today because a group of 200 men were following me the whole way. I’m sorry I ruined the race.”
Judges say Borg was moving at record-breaking speeds, averaging almost 10km/h during her solo walk home.
Borg announced she will be stepping down from professional walking to focus her efforts into making 30% more money.
