Local Man Looking Forward To Being Lectured On Differences Between Pumpkins, Squash And Festive Gourds This Monday

Oakville - As Canadian Thanksgiving approaches, Toronto native Connor Everett looks forward to the annual lecture he receives from his father-in-law on the subtle, but important differences, between pumpkins, squash and festive gourds.
“While I knew they were all fruit because of the presence of seeds,” says Everett, his eyes wide with anticipation as this upcoming Monday holds the promise of even more cucurbitaceae knowledge, “The leaked abstract that I read detailing this year’s lecture looks like I will have the distinctions between genera Cucurbita (soft-skinned gourds) and Lagenaria (hard-skinned gourds) finally unpacked for me in riveting detail.”
Acknowledging that this year’s Thanksgiving will be the first in-person get-together for the Everett family in a number of years, due to the now-lifted COVID restrictions, Everett is cautiously optimistic that there will not be a repeat of the now infamous summer vs. winter squash dust-up of 2019.
