Protestors In High Park Demand City Reignite Tire Fire

High Park - Protestors are once again gathering in one of Toronto’s largest public parks to demand the city relight the park’s iconic tire fire. The fire, which was put out by the city on Friday, had been burning endlessly since 1987.

“Many residents rely on the warmth of the tire fire,” stated 56 year old Barb Callahan, “It’s unfair for the city to have done this for such a short sighted reason.”

The City of Toronto stated that the iconic fire was a public health concern, with the large black plumes of smoke creating visibility issues for planes landing at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport.

Counterprotestors are expected to be on-scene today, arguing that the tire fire was too hot and warming beer and wine that was being consumed at the park.
