Alberta Tightening Border Security For Surprisingly Non-Racist Reasons
By Scott Slute
Calgary - Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has announced new protocols for international travelers entering the province, and shockingly not one of them is racially motivated.
The Premier announced that the new, stricter measures have been put in place to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, and amazingly have nothing to do with parroting Trump-ian talking points about people stealing their jobs.
Effective immediately, all persons entering through the Calgary or Alberta International airports will be required to pass through a provincial checkpoint and undergo a thermal scan, and yes even if those individuals traveling from a white country.
All individuals entering the country will also be required to self-isolate by staying indoors for 14 days in compliance with federal guidelines, and not because they’re worried residents of the province will yell racial epithets at them if they go out in public.
Kenney went on to state, “Countries like Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea have been successful at mitigating the spread because they took immediate action securing their borders, and they’re all Asian so you can’t call me racist for doing the same thing.”
When asked if Alberta planned to implement these procedures along provincial borders, Kenney said it would be something to consider, especially for the B.C. border but definitely not for the Saskatchewan border. Not because Saskatchewan is 99.7% white but because B.C. has more international travel and is run by Liberals. This is not racially driven.
And although it had nothing to do with border security or COVID-19, Premier Kenney also wanted to remind everyone that he still thinks gay people shouldn’t be married.
