Toronto - During their inter-squad scrimmage last night, Toronto Maple Leafs fans got their first look at the 2021 season roster live in action. As many onlookers noted, it seems like this year’s squad is going to be the one to hoist the Stanley Cup and, in the tradition of major sports franchises dominated by white fanbases, incite their fans to celebratorily destroy the city they love.

The practice match was the first time fans got to see newcomer Mikko Lehtonen dressed in the iconic Maple Leafs white and blues. Fans also got their first look at the Joe Thorton-Auston Matthews-Mitch Marner line. This new dynamic seems to be exactly what the team needs to win the Stanley Cup this year and allow their fans to rampage up Yonge Street, celebrating the historic win while leaving a trail of destruction in their wake as they destroy and loot what few shops are still left.

The NHL has had a long and storied history of home team fans destroying their own city after a victory, from Montreal in 1986 to Vancouver in 2011. And for many fans in Toronto, they feel that it’s long overdue for them to get the opportunity to smash in storefront windows and set several blocks of Wellington Street on fire.

“It’s been a long time coming for us, and after seeing them in action last night I think this is the year the boys are going to bring home the Stanley Cup,” says life-long Leafs fan Brody Kyle, “Ever since I was a little kid, it’s always been my dream to watch as the Buds become the NHL champs on home ice, and then immediately join the thousands of other fans storming out of the ACC, flipping over cop cars and throwing molotov cocktails at the Fairmont Hotel!”

With the Leafs gearing up to take on the Montreal Canadian this Wednesday, the whole city will be watching to see whether this is going to be their year, particularly the Toronto Police department who will need to determine how much of their 2021 budget is going to need to go into buying new riot gear.
