Doug Ford Clarifies That While Canada Is Not For Sale, The Greenbelt Still Is

By Andrew Scott

Queen’s Park - Speaking truth to power, Ontario Premier Doug Ford stood up to President-Elect Donald Trump’s continued threat to turn Canada into the 51st state by telling American news outlets that Canada is not for sale and suggesting instead that the two nations work together to forge an “incredible trade deal.”

Upon reflection, however, Ford’s message has been clarified to make clear that while Canada is not, and will never be, for sale, Ontario’s coveted Greenbelt lands are still open for business and available to the highest bidder from the province’s private development sector.

Although it is currently unclear where and how Ford’s initial message will be clarified to the development community, insiders close to the Premier are hoping for an upcoming stag-and-doe party when this news can most effectively be circulated.
