Federal Government Unveils Plan To Politely Ask Grocery CEOs To Lower Food Prices If It’s Not Too Much Trouble
Ottawa - As grocery prices continue to rise above manageable levels for the average Canadian, the federal government announced their latest plan to ask if maybe grocery CEOs could lower prices a little bit if it was ok with them. Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne stated last week that it was completely unacceptable for Canadian families to struggle to put food on their tables while grocers made record high profits. Now, he has stated that if something isn’t done by companies like Loblaws, Empire, Metro, Walmart and Costco then he’ll be really sad. “These grocery chains need to do something about their prices. Which is why I’m asking very, very nicely that if they did do that it would mean a lot to me,” stated Champagne while pointing his index fingers together, pouting his lips, and making his eyes well up and become twice as large as normal. Metro has been the only company so far to respond to Champagne, stating “lol no.”
