Queen’s Park - The Ford government has backtracked on last weeks promise to hold those responsible for the handling of the pandemic in long-term care homes after an in-depth investigation by the province determined it was in fact the Ford government’s fault.

“There’s no need to play the blame game when it comes to human life,” Ontario Long-Term Care Minister Merrilee Fullerton said Wednesday, exactly two days after blaming the NDP party (who haven’t held power since 1995) for long-standing problems in nursing homes.

After last year’s report by Canadian Forces revealed the abhorrent condition of Ontario’s LTC homes, Ford promised to hold those who created the situation responsible for their actions. However, after a year of unsuccessful attempts to pin it on the previous Liberal government, Ford stated there was no need to dwell on the past.

“Folks, when I promised last year to hold those responsible for the horrors in our long-term care accountable, I sincerely believed I would be able to find a way to blame it on someone else,” Ford told reporters, “But we need to stop pointing fingers and accept this was all of our fault, including the LTC nurses who in 2019 said my cutting of funding was going to lead to this exact situation. We’re all in this together as Ontarians.”

Ford swiftly stated that there was no further need to discuss long-term care homes, and said the only thing your grandparents really missed out on in the last year was the delicious new Tim Horton’s breakfast sandwiches. He then opened up the press conference to carefully screened questions.

“Have you seen what Trudeau is doing with the border,” Ford said while simultaneously jingling his keys in front of reporters, “Ooph, what a disaster. Ask me some questions about that.”
