Partially-Built Condo Building To Be Torn Down And Replaced By Condo Building

Toronto - The skyline at King St and Blue Jays Way will be looking a little different by the end of the year after the city announced their plans to tear down a nearly completed condo building and replace it with a newer condo building.

The building that was nearing completion along Blue Jays Way was set to be a 28 story complex with 356 units. The newly proposed condo building would be 33 stories and contain a total of 402 units.

The city says the decision to replace the almost finished building with a whole new building was based on current housing needs, citing that the additional 46 units are much needed in the city and absolutely worth the $78 million price tag that comes with it.

Construction of the old building has been underway for nearly four years, and builders say that accounting for demolition the new building should be completed no later than 2032.
