Los Angeles - Toronto residents awoke Monday morning to the surprising news that Mayor John Tory had abandoned his office and relocated himself to Los Angeles in order to follow his true passion of becoming a world famous Tik Tok star.

Late Sunday night, with nothing but a duffel bag and a dream, the former mayor headed to Pearson airport to catch the redeye flight to Los Angeles. Tory reportedly plans to move into Hype House, where he will be able to collaborate with other famous Tik Tokers like Chase Hudson and Calvin Goldby.

Since joining the social media app in late 2020 Tory has gained almost 30,000 followers, with many of his videos boasting 100,000 views and comments such as “Why is this old man dancing like that?” and “Please, Mr Mayor, please just stop.”

Though initially joining Tik Tok to spread awareness of COVID-19 to the city’s youth, Mayor Tory quickly became addicted to that sweet, sweet dopamine rush whenever one of his posts would go viral. After learning a few of the dances, and dueting with Addison Rae, the Mayor says he finally found his true calling.

“Being the Mayor of Toronto has been a true honour, and I will truly miss serving the people of Toronto who make over six figures a year,” Tory tells us from his new house while Bryce Hall and Larray recorded a sketch in the background, “But I hope you can all understand that this is my true calling. It took me 73 years on this planet to realize what I was born to do; dance on the internet in 15-60 second clips!”

Residents of Toronto, though happy for the mayor, are now left wondering who will now ensure that homeless populations are forcibly removed from their tents by the mayor’s private security forces.

Make sure to check out Mayor Tory on the Hype House TV series set to premier on Netflix later this year.
