Loblaws To Give Out Free Shopping Bag As Compensation In Bread Price-Fixing Lawsuit

Toronto - Loblaw and parent company George Weston Ltd say they have agreed to give shoppers a free reusable shopping bags to settle a class-action lawsuit involving their alleged bread-price fixing scheme.

The lawsuit was brought against the group of companies and alleges they conspired to raise the price of bread above market value between 2001-2015. The company says they are deeply ashamed of this behaviour and would never do it again especially on all food items and over the last two years.

“We are deeply sorry this ever happened,” stated Galen Weston, who is chairman of both companies, “We would like to apologies and offer shoppers this complimentary bag they can us to carry home their $11 loaves of bread.”
