Ottawa - Following calls from the NDPs to update the “archaic and sexist” parliamentary dress code, the Governor General announced today the current dress code will stay. She did, however, grant MPs a “Casual Friday”, a business practice where employees can wear fun shirts and sneakers one day a week.

“We were hoping to create a more inclusive space for transgender, non-binary and two-spirt MPs,” Randall Garrison, the NDP's spokesperson on LGBTQ issues, said, “We plan to continue fighting for change, but Jagmeet just bought us all cool vintage band tees as a thank you for the election, so we’re all pretty excited to rock those on the floor!”

Governor General Mary May Simon she first conceived of the idea during the most recent election cycle, when middle aged women across the prairies flocked to the voting booths after Erin O’Toole posted his now famous t-shirt thirst trap.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he welcomes the progressive step forward for parliament. He tells us he’s excited to wear a t-shirt that says “Climate Change Sucks!” while voting to build more oil pipelines.
