TTC Buses Will Stop Picking Up Passengers In Latest Effort To Fight Omicron

Toronto - If you rely on TTC buses as part of your commute except them to drive right passed your stop starting Monday, as the transit authority announced they will no longer allow passengers to ride their vehicles.
Following an announcement that they would be opening bus windows to help fight Omicron, and an unrelated worker shortage, the TTC now says as of today riders will not be allowed to board buses in the company’s next step in preventing the spread of the virus.
“To put it simply; we can’t spread Omicron on our buses if no one is on our buses,” said CEO of the TTC Rick Leary, “We all have to do our part in this fight, so that means many of you are just going to have to walk to work.”
Although 1000’s of riders use TTC buses each day, many feel not riding the buses is just a small price to pay for the greater good.
”Of course this is not ideal, but we all need to do our part,” said TTC user and Scarborough resident Vanessa Hurd, “I use two TTC buses, light rail and the subway as part of my three hour commute downtown. But if it helps fight COVID, I’m willing to walk an additional 12KM. Looks like I’ll be getting my steps in!”
Buses will of course continue to drive their usual routes, serving as beacons for residents to follow to the nearest subway station which, due to on-going service reduction, will be operating at what is being referred to as “over capacity”.
