Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney Over ‘Black Widow’ Not Being Black

Hollywood - The ‘Black Widow’ star is taking the monolith studio to court after a contract misunderstanding resulted in the actress portraying a caucasian character for the first time in her career
“When my client signed on for the role, we thought it was pretty clear the character she was playing was gonna be, ya know… what my client does best,” Johansson’s lawyer said in a statement.
Johansson is seeking $2 million in emotional damages after an embarrassing incident during the first day of shooting involving the makeup department.
“The character’s name is BLACK widow. It’s completely reasonable for my client to assume that would involve some elaborate face makeup, and the hair and makeup department had no right to treat her that way after her request,” Johansson’s lawyer continued in his statement.
Disney has yet to comment, but reports are the company is seeking to settle out of court by offering Johansson the role of the crows in the upcoming Dumbo sequel.
