Quebec Mandates All Concerts Must Be Sung In French

Montreal - A controversial new law has been passed in Quebec that will now require any performers in the province to sing exclusively in French.
Premier François Legault has stated that the new law is to ensure Quebec remains the least multicultural place in the country by erasing the artistic pillar of other cultures.
“Of course you are able to perform the songs of your people, we just ask you translate the lyrics into French and only sing that,” stated Legault.
The new law will affect any musician wishing to perform in the province. And with the mandate coming into effect on Friday, performers of Montreal’s Osheaga music festival are scrambling to translate their lyrics into French.
“I’m very excited to come to Montreal and perform my hit songs ‘Une Embrasser’ and ‘Lévitation (feat. LeBébé)’,” stated Dua Lipa in a tweet promoting her Osheaga appearance.
Those caught singing in languages other than French can face a minimum $10,000 fine, and punishments as high as being locked in an ice jail guarded by Bonhomme.
Legault says this bill is the first of many he plans to pass to ensure he makes his province the least desirable place to live in the country.
